On behalf of the Democratic Women of North Carolina, it is my honor to issue this call to convention and invite you to join us for our 62nd Annual State Convention, September 23-24, 2022 in Greensboro, NC. This will be our first time to gather for convention in over two years and we are so excited to have the opportunity to convene as we celebrate our mighty sisterhood and make plans for our shared future.
our rights. our fight.
It's been a tough year for women and for all people who believe that humans should have the right to bodily autonomy. We've still got a way to go to the midterms, but we know that this our fight. These are our rights. That's our convention theme this year-- Our Rights. Our Fight.
In 1973, the Supreme Court decided Roe v. Wade. At that point in American history, women had more liberty, privacy, and control over their own bodies than we do today under the Dobbs decision. So let's revisit that era when we had rights and learn from the great leaders who moved the dial then, so we can continue to fight today. That's right--- we're going back to party like it's 1973.
We’ve got a great convention lined up for you, with
a 70s themed welcome reception with candidates
workshops provided by expert trainers and maybe even by you!
special greetings from our elected officials, including an "Our Rights. Our Courts." themed lunch featuring our judicial candidates.
and, of course we’ll be capping off our year of hard work with awards ceremonies for STARS and presenting our Woman of the Year award, making time to honor the sheroes who live and breathe and walk amongst us and are leading the way, as well as those from years gone by.
“You don't make progress by standing on the sidelines... You make progress by implementing ideas.”
- Shirley Chisolm
Just as Shirley advised, the Democratic Women are all about coming together and implementing ideas. Our Convention is a chance for us to exchange those ideas. To learn from each other and from experts about what works and what doesn't. To learn more about the stakes and be inspired to change things for the better. I'm so excited to get to share this time with you--to learn, to laugh, to grow, and to continue to be inspired by you all. I hope you are excited about the fellowship and fun that awaits you at our 62nd Annual Convention as well!
See you in Greensboro!

living our values
We are Democrats. We believe in science and taking care of our neighbors here's a couple of things you should know about how we are living those values at Convention '22.
All attendees are required to submit proof of vaccination (a photo of your vaccine card) at registration.
All attendees must do one of the following in order to gain admission to the event:
Take a PCR test within three days of the convention and bring the negative results with to present at the Convention Registration desk at the convention venue.
Take a rapid test on-site at the Convention and receive a negative result.
Wear a mask at all times during Convention.
While masking regardless of your test results is encouraged, we strongly encourage all of our attendees to choose either option 1 or 2 above-- it really is the best way for us to gather safely.
An Eco-Friendly Convention:
Also in an effort to live our Democratic values, our convention team has looked at places where we can reduce waste and provide a more eco-friendly experience. In lieu of printing paper convention booklets and flyers, we are going to have all the information you need in your convention app. You will receive more information about the app and a link to download it in email with convention details that will hit your inbox the week-of Convention. o log on with other information about Convention.
We are also committed to reducing our plastic waste, and will have water coolers available in lieu of water bottles (so bring your own reusable bottle to fill up!) We'll also be making every effort to use as few paper, plastic and styrofoam products as possible.
Visit our new online store for reasonably priced political and patriotic shirts, mugs and face masks. Stock up on DWNC items to show your pride, reward your hard working chapter members, or to thank your Democratic speakers at your meetings. They also make great holiday gifts!
